STEM day – kick-off meeting SHE-WINS

On 22 and 23 November 2023 have took place the Project’s kick-off meeting. For the occasion, a university orientation event has also been organized by the Department of Political Economy and Statistics (DEPS) in collaboration with six other departments of the University of Siena that offer STEM degree courses. The main objective was to promote SHE-WINS by increasing awareness among high school students about the shortage of women in specific STEM degree programs. The event saw the participation of more than 400 students from various schools in the Sienese area and took place in the museum of the Contrada della Tartuca a Siena.

March, 6-2024- Seminar "Gender gaps in education and academic career and the role of the work life balance"- University of Naples Parthenope

On 6 March 2024, within the framework of the seminar "Gender gaps in education and academic career and the role of the work life balance" organised for Women's Week by the Comitato Unico di Garanzia (CUG) of the University of Naples Parthenope, Sergio Longobardi and Andrea Regoli presented the SHE WINS project. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Departments of Engineering and Science and Technology, in the presence of lecturers and students, who were directly interested in the project's research topics and the questions that the research activities aim to answer.

Education and/for social justice - Third International Conference of the journal "Scuola Democratica June 3-4-5-6, 2024 · University of Cagliari (Italy)

The research group, together with Prof. Dalit Contini (University of Turin), organised the panel entitled ‘Gender inequalities in STEM education and the labour market: Evidence, determinants, and interventions’ at the Third International Conference of the journal ‘Scuola Democratica’. The conference took place from 3 to 6 June 2024 in Cagliari (Italy) and the panel attracted a large number of authors, such that it was held in two separate sessions

Special Session

18th International Joint Conference on Computational and Financial Econometrics and Computational and Methodological Statistics (CFE-CMStatistics 2024) Hybrid Conference, King's College London, London, UK London, 14-16 December, 2024

The research group, in collaboration with Prof. Isabella Sulis from the University of Cagliari, organized a panel titled “Statistical Models and Methods for Education II” at the CFE-CMStatistics 2024 conference. This event was held in London, Italy, from December 14–16, 2024. The session was connected to the earlier session, “Statistical Models and Methods for Education I.”
